Cincinnati's Opioid Challenge
While drug addiction is widespread throughout Cincinnati, opioids are a significant concern. Research shows that 17.8% of recent drug-related deaths involved fentanyl. The quality of fentanyl and other opioids is also relatively low, as they are often mixed with other drugs and substances, making them even more toxic.
Hot spots for drug use include Hamilton County, which has historically been one of the worst areas in the nation for overdoses, with deaths peaking at 570 in 2017. Butler County is also problematic, experiencing 184 overdoses in 2022. Drug-related deaths have declined in recent years due to the distribution of Narcan, but drug use is still prevalent.
Why Leave Ohio for Treatment
While you can get treatment locally, there are advantages to seeking recovery counseling out of state. Traveling provides distance from stressors and a sense of a fresh start, conducive to sober living. Here’s why it might improve your outcomes.
Triggers: Distance removes you from triggers, such as work, relationships, and financial stressors that can lead to relapse. It also keeps you away from the ‘old crowd’ who can pressure you to drink and use drugs.
Anonymity: Traveling out of state for treatment reduces the risk of running into someone you know at the facility or just outside it. It ensures discretion.
Enhanced Perspective: Moving away from your everyday life provides a new perspective that can benefit healing.
The Benefits of Seeking Treatment in New Jersey
Although you can seek treatment services in any state, New Jersey takes a special approach to substance use disorders, providing effective care through the following programs.
State Licensing and Quality Standards: New Jersey requires all treatment centers to be licensed by the NJ Department of Human Services/Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), ensuring they meet high-quality standards. They are often Joint Commission-accredited.
Oversight of Marketing and Patient Brokering: The state takes action against deceptive marketing practices to help patients access trustworthy care.
Support of Long-Term Recovery: Legislation in many counties supports treatment-focused alternatives to incarceration, re-entry and housing programs, and workforce and stigma initiatives.
Medical Treatment to Aftercare
BlueCrest supports clients throughout the recovery journey, offering comprehensive care with the following outpatient treatments.
Detox: We offer medication-assisted treatment to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Our staff oversees the process with medical care to ensure complications don’t occur and to prevent relapse. We aim to keep patients as comfortable as possible during this difficult stage of recovery.
Mental Health Treatment: We understand that addiction is often tied to mental health disorders, such as anxiety and depression. Our outpatient programs address the underlying cause of dependency issues, teaching clients healthy coping strategies that support long-term recovery. We offer evidence-based therapies proven to drive results.
Aftercare: After clients complete the initial stages of our addiction treatment programs, we continue to support them to ensure they stay sober. We help them develop skills, provide ongoing therapy, and support them as they adjust to everyday life.
Our Treatment Modalities
We offer a wide range of substance abuse treatment options that can be customized to the client’s individual needs. Our services include:
Dual Diagnosis Treatment: We treat co-occurring disorders such as dependency issues and mental health concerns to ensure long-lasting addiction recovery.
Behavioral Health Therapies: Our mental health specialists integrate proven therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), to help clients regulate emotions, address negative thought patterns, and adopt healthier behaviors.
Support Groups: Group therapy reduces feelings of isolation and helps people learn from one another.
Family Therapy: Families are often brought into therapy sessions so they can identify enabling and codependent behavior and learn how to provide a supportive environment for their loved one.
Mindfulness Practices: We encourage clients to practice mindfulness exercises such as deep breathing, yoga, and meditation to support optimal emotional regulation.
Program length varies depending on the severity of addiction and addiction type, but typically spans from 30-90 days.
Ohio Insurance Verification
You may be concerned about the cost of intensive outpatient programs, considering Ohio insurance may not cover out-of-state care. We provide verification in advance so you can find out if you’re covered before you enroll. Our team can also offer advice on obtaining the right insurance.
Generally, employer PPO and large network plans, such as Aetna, Blue Cross, and United Healthcare, will provide coverage for in-network providers. Additionally, some private insurance plans offer out-of-state or away-from-home coverage, such as Horizon’s Away from Home Care.
We also offer private pay options that can be adjusted to your needs.
Planning Your Arrival
Travel is another concern, but BlueCrest has you covered in that department as well. We can work out your travel plans to ensure optimal convenience at minimal cost. In some situations, we may even be able to provide door-to-door service.
Although the 600+ miles from Cincinnati to our clinic can make driving difficult, most flights are two hours or less.
