Baltimore's Epidemic Crisis
In 2023, Baltimore’s drug problem was out of control. The city saw 1,043 drug-related deaths, 921 of which were fentanyl related. Penn North, Carrollton Ridge, and other sections of the West Baltimore community were cited as highly affected.
More recently, the rate of overdoses has decreased, largely due to the use and distribution of Naloxone. But drug use remains a significant issue, leading to crime, impacting relationships, and causing various medical issues. Help is available- it’s just a matter of finding the best opportunities.
The Benefits of Escaping the Local Drug Environment
While some might seek mental health counseling and other addiction treatments in Baltimore, traveling for care may be a better option for intensive outpatient treatment. It offers the following benefits:
Removal from Triggers: Baltimore’s heavy drug use makes it easy to relapse. Drugs are plentiful, and you may be tempted to make a misstep. It’s best to remove yourself from triggers so you can focus on sobriety.
Reduces Stressors: Your home life may be filled with stressors related to your job, school, relationships, and other issues. Traveling distances you from stressors, so you can focus on healing.
New Perspective: When a person receives treatment away from home, they gain a sense of a fresh start and a new perspective.
Anonymity: When you get treatment out of state, you are less likely to run into someone you know inside or just outside the facility, ensuring a discreet approach.
Close Proximity to New Jersey
New Jersey is an ideal destination for clients in Baltimore, MD, seeking a partial hospitalization program due to its close proximity. It’s about 150 miles away- just a 2.5-hour drive. Plane rides are typically an hour or less.
The state also offers other advantages that make it ideal for recovery. It provides the following legislation:
Substance Abuse Accountability and Recovery Act: Limits reincarceration for relapse, prioritizing community treatment instead.
Patient Brokering Amendments reduce kickbacks, bribes, and rebates to ensure patients receive transparent care.
Sober Living and Halfway House Regulation regulates residential halfway facilities, demanding background checks and oversight to ensure a safe transition for recovering individuals.
Transportation Options
If travel is a concern, we’ve got it under control. We will handle all your arrangements. Our PHP team can schedule flights, hotels, and car services.
In some cases, we may even be able to offer door-to-door services. We aim to make travel as easy as possible, ensuring you meet your recovery goals.
Maryland Insurance Verification
Cost may be another issue, especially if you’re concerned our New Jersey facility won’t accept your Maryland insurance. However, there are options to consider.
For example, there are private plans, including employer-sponsored and marketplace plans like CareFirst BCBS, that may be accepted by BlueCrest and other New Jersey facilities, depending on your network. Medicaid may also be an option if you reapply under a new status. We will help you review what’s available so you can determine a plan that works best for your situation.
Our Treatment Philosophy
BlueCrest’s mission is to ensure an enduring recovery. We focus on the mental, spiritual, and physical aspects of treatment, offering various levels of care for a holistic, well-rounded approach.
Physical: We break the bonds of physical addiction with medication management and follow up with nutrition and exercise to support optimal health.
Mental: BlueCrest addresses underlying issues that may contribute to addiction with mental health counseling and group therapy.
Spiritual: Mindfulness exercises like meditation, yoga, and art therapy support self-love and emotional regulation, preparing you for your recovery journey.
Dual Diagnosis Expertise
We understand that mental health conditions often contribute to drug abuse in men and women. People self-medicate to calm inner demons, like depression and anxiety, often making them worse in the long run. Drugs rewire the brain, reducing emotional regulation, and lead to relationship, legal, and financial problems that increase stress.
Our program takes a dual diagnosis approach, addressing addiction and its underlying causes. We utilize a wide range of clinically tested treatment methods alongside group counseling and family therapy to support clients on their journey. The BlueCrest staff takes a personalized approach, giving patients the tools they need to handle their emotions in a healthy manner, without turning to drugs and alcohol.
Aftercare and Sober Living
After completing our program, we continue to support patients, ensuring they maintain long-term sobriety. We recommend:
Ongoing Therapy to help clients continue to handle stressors in a healthy manner.
Sober Living Locations where clients can adjust to everyday living, rebuild their lives, and learn skills that provide purpose and direction.
Healthy Habits that replace drug use and support confidence and emotional regulation.
