Family Program

The Family Program at BlueCrest consists of the weekly Family Support Group and at least one individual family/couple’s sessions if requested. The family members are provided with skills to focus on themselves while communicating their feelings in a way in which they can help to heal themselves instead of focusing on the illusion of having control over the addicted patient.

The Family Support Group is offered to all of the family members and loved ones that are affected by the disease of addiction. The in-person Family Support Group is on Wednesday nights from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM. We are also currently offering an online Family Support Group on Friday nights from 7:40-8:40. All of these support groups are free. You are welcome to attend this support even if your loved one hasn’t ever attended our program as a patient. Please call our main number 973-298-5776 to make an appointment for the first visit and to receive the information needed to participate in the online meeting.

The education provided is about addiction, 12 Step recovery and how it works, along with education about co-dependency. We discuss the concepts of enabling, rescuing and the need for detachment. We discuss how addiction is a family disease since all loved ones are on the same scary roller coaster ride with the addicted person. The ride of addiction is never fun, and results in the patient and the loved one becoming sick. We talk about how the family member and loved one can get well along with the patient. Information about Al-Anon and Nar-Anon is provided and attendance at these meetings are strongly encouraged. Information about how to set up a family session is provided. Help with finding a therapist for the loved ones is recommended and support in finding the correct professional to provide thisindividual support is given. Professional guidance and tissues are provided since tears and some laughter are always part of the journey.

You guys care, you really do. This isn’t just a machine.

I feel like I’ve found somebody that was long lost and I’m still finding that person, and it’s a journey that I’m welcoming. I’ve gotten my life back and I’ve gotten my soul back.
