Irena Pergjika is a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey and New York State. She earned her master’s degree from Touro College School of Health Sciences and completed her clinical internship outpatient at Zucker Hillside Hospital where she worked closely with the substance abuse population. Ms. Pergjika continued her clinical work on the inpatient units at Zucker Hillside Hospital where she further developed her clinical skills. Ms. Pergjika utilizes evidence-based interventions and tailors her approach with each patient. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. Certified as a Yoga Instructor, Ms. Pergjika incorporates movement, meditation and breathing techniques with clients. She has treated patients from adolescents to older adults, and her experience working on an inpatient unit, makes her uniquely qualified to treat patients with complex presentations.
Irena is interested in the person as a whole and considers the body, mind and spirit connection in order to learn the individual’s view of self and of the world, increase insight and challenge ambivalence, as well as discover links between thoughts and behavior. Irena facilitates a safe, judgment free, and warm environment for patients to openly express themselves, diving within and re-discovering themselves.
