United Healthcare Rehab Insurance Coverage

Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, all major health insurance carriers must provide coverage for addiction and mental health treatment. This means paying for rehab with United Healthcare is likely within your reach.

However, how much treatment your insurance covers depends on your specific United Healthcare insurance plan. Determining your level of United Healthcare rehab insurance coverage can be done in one of two ways.

Call Your Insurance Provider

The first method for checking your insurance coverage is to call United Healthcare directly. You can find the number for United Healthcare on the back of your insurance card, which will connect you to an insurance agent. They can explain your plan’s benefits and what paying for rehab with United Healthcare is like.

Call Your Rehab of Choice

Alternatively, you can call BlueCrest Recovery to verify your insurance is accepted. BlueCrest Recovery accepts most major insurance providers, including United Healthcare, and our team can guide you toward treatment options covered by your benefits.

Understanding Your Benefits

Insurance benefits can be confusing. What you’re expected to pay and what your insurance will cover might not be clear. Understanding some of the critical terms of your insurance policy can help clarify this process and let you take full advantage of your benefits.

A copay is a fee that you pay each time you receive a specific service, such as:

  • Seeing a counselor
  • Picking up a medication
  • Visiting your doctor for an illness

The amount you pay for each type of service is fixed, so your copay for generic medications might be five dollars, while your copay for doctor visits might be $25.

Your deductible is the total amount you must pay before your insurance picks up the bill. For example, you might have a $500 deductible that you are responsible for paying before your insurance covers your rehab costs.

Your coinsurance rate is the percentage you pay after meeting your deductible. If you have a 5% coinsurance rate, you must pay 5% of your total health insurance costs after meeting your deductible.

Out-of-Pocket Maximum

The amount you pay in your deductible, copays, and coinsurance costs all contribute to your out-of-pocket maximum. Once you’ve reached that number in payments through these three fees, your insurance will cover all the remaining treatment costs.

What Will United Healthcare Rehab Insurance Cover?

Most United Healthcare plans cover a wide range of addiction treatment services. For example, you can typically receive coverage for medical detox, including any medications administered there, then receive coverage to transfer to a partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient facility.

Since BlueCrest Recovery focuses on evidence-based treatment methods, your insurance plan will cover nearly all of the therapies and treatments you receive.
