Paying for Rehab with Blue Cross Blue Shield

When you or a loved one is struggling with a substance use disorder, the thought of paying expensive fees to get evidence-based care can stand in the way of getting the treatment you need. Thankfully, paying for rehab with Blue Cross Blue Shield rehab insurance coverage could be as simple as calling our team to verify that your benefits cover treatment. Blue Cross Blue Shield is required to cover treatment for addiction and mental health disorders through the Affordable Care Act. That said, not all Blue Cross Blue Shield plans offer the same level of coverage.

To better understand the rules and limits of your insurance plan, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card to speak with your insurance provider directly. When talking to your insurance provider, you can ask questions such as:

  • What type of addiction treatment do I have coverage for?
  • What are the limits for my Blue Cross Blue Shield rehab insurance coverage?
  • What am I expected to pay out of pocket to receive addiction care?

This conversation can give you a better idea of how far your insurance will go in helping you achieve recovery and what services you can expect to receive.

Treatments Covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield Rehab Insurance Coverage

For the most part, insurance plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield will cover evidence-based treatment methods that are considered medically necessary. These include multiple levels of care and several specific treatments and therapies, such as:

  • Medical detox
  • Partial hospitalization programs
  • Intensive outpatient programs
  • Outpatient programs
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy
  • Medication-assisted treatment
  • Dialectical behavior therapy
  • Motivational enhancement therapy

All of these are evidence-based strategies that medical researchers have proven to be beneficial in helping people recover from substance use disorders. At BlueCrest Recovery, we will work with Blue Cross Blue Shield rehab insurance to ensure you receive the treatments you need.
