BlueCrest Recovery Center offers multiple opportunities to participate in meditation both on the facility premises and off site.
Practicing yoga can assist individuals who are recovering from substance abuse by improving mental and physical well-being through relaxation and deep breathing techniques. Promoting patience and calmness can be beneficial to all recovery stages, especially during early recovery. Daily Yoga Therapy provides many benefits to early recovery. It has been scientifically proven to be a natural mood enhancer, as well as a way to relieve a person’s aggression and tension. For addicts, it is essential to learn how to cope with negative impulses and life-stressors. BlueCrest Recovery Center believes that participating in programs such as these, benefit a clients and offers them physical and emotional support during the formation of a new life.
Art therapy has been proven to be an excellent therapeutic technique for addicts to get more in touch with their inner self and even at times their Higher Power. It offers the client the ability to express feelings that might not be easily identifiable in a verbal conversation with their therapist. Some feelings are not easily put into words, conducting therapy in this manner gives the client the ability to recognize emotional conflicts, fosters self-awareness, reduces anxiety, and helps manage addictive behaviors. Participation in Art Therapy requires no artistic skill or special talent. Anyone can effectively utilize this form of holistic care. The only skill needed is the ability to be open-minded.
Studies have found that music has the ability to determine a person’s mood and promote a decrease in anxiety and stress levels. This form of holistic care promotes wellness, assists in managing stress, can alleviate pain, helps a client express their feelings, enhances memory, and improves communication. Participation in Music Therapy does not require any form of musical training. Therapy sessions include the use of active listening, music making, and discussion. Like Art Therapy, Music Therapy has been proven to tap into an addicts emotions that they may have difficulty expressing, particularly during group discussions. Some activity examples include: Lyric Analysis, music and relaxation, songwriting, musical games, music improvisation, and active listening.

This holistic program assists clients in working towards the restoration of normal musculoskeletal functioning. Exercise Therapy has been scientifically proven to reduce pain, increase motor/sensory functioning, diminish Post-Acute Withdrawal Symptoms, as well as improve the clients overall health and general wellness.
